I’ve read before that e-cigarettes are slightly more popular among women than men. Although I’m unable to verify the statistic, it hasn’t stopped companies like V2 Cigs from introducing brands such as Vapor Couture in an effort to court more female customers. Recently, Maria from Vaping Vamps got in touch with me to let me know that Vapor Couture is no longer the only game in town, and it turns out that Vaping Vamps has a few key differences from the competition that might interest you.
About Vaping Vamps
The first thing that Maria wanted me to know about Vaping Vamps was that, unlike its larger competitor, they are a brand created and run exclusively by women. Evidently, everything about the e-cigarette was selected by a focus group of female smokers, from the 510 battery to the flat black finish and even the flavor selection. The company also claims to donate a portion of its profits to charities that help women.
The Vaping Vamps Deluxe Kit costs $59.95 and includes two automatic 510 batteries, five cartomizers and wall/USB chargers and comes packaged in a box adorned with the company’s signature black and purple colors. A less expensive single-battery kit is also available for those who don’t want to spend quite that much. The initial box of five cartomizers will last about a week, and after that you’ll spend $9.95 per five-pack.
Vaping Vamps Review
According to the website, the flavor selection offered by Vaping Vamps was settled on by a focus group of women. The flavors include a tobacco with light mint and a tobacco with heavier mint along with a caramel (RY4), a blend of berry and wintergreen and a mango flavor. If the flavor selection sounds a little haphazard, it’s because the company only sells the e-liquids that were rated by the panel as most “yummy.” Of the five flavors, the berry and wintergreen blend called “Tia Berry” is my favorite; it tastes a bit different from the selection of e-liquids that companies usually source from the manufacturers in China.
The vapor produced by the Vaping Vamps e-cigarette is thin and wispy, which isn’t atypical for a 510 e-cigarette. I found myself needing to take several small puffs in order to produce a satisfying amount of vapor. According to Vaping Vamps, the focus group preferred the 510 battery over the more powerful KR-808. I don’t think I would have made the same decision, but one positive side effect is the fact that the vapor dissipates in the air almost as soon as you exhale it. In that sense, the Vaping Vamps e-cigarette can be good for “stealth vaping” when you don’t want to call attention to yourself. Just make certain that you select a sufficient nicotine strength. If you aren’t certain, Vaping Vamps offers a variety pack with different nicotine levels.
The same can be said of the flat black battery; although the skeptic in me would simply say that flat black batteries are probably the cheapest to buy from wholesalers, the information I received from Vaping Vamps suggests that the focus group actually preferred this color. I have no business discussing fashion, but it seems to me that Vaping Vamps and Vapor Couture are trying to attract slightly different types of customers; one type might want her e-cigarette to be a fashion statement, while the other type might not want her e-cigarette to be a point of discussion at all. Or, think of it another way — do you have to answer questions from curious onlookers every time you smoke a real cigarette, and would you like that to change?
Vaping Vamps Review: The Bottom Line
It can be a little difficult to give a product a proper review when its target market doesn’t include you. Speaking as a longtime e-cigarette reviewer, though, I have no real problems with the Vaping Vamps e-cigarette. The performance, design and price point are all adequate. I do wonder about the decision to source e-liquids from China, though, since coupling mass-produced e-liquids with a flat black battery leaves little to set Vaping Vamps apart from other e-cigarette brands apart from the packaging, which most customers will only look at once. I applaud the company’s decision to donate a portion of its profits to women’s causes, though, and depending on who you are that may be a factor that influences your buying decision.
