As long as I’ve been covering the e-cigarette industry, it’s amazing that I still see things so frequently that surprise me. Out of the blue, I recently received an email from White Cloud Electronic Cigarettes asking if I’d like to review their products. White Cloud is the company that was once infamous for selling the most expensive e-cigarette most people had ever seen: the Cirrus 3, which had a staggering price of $350. White Cloud claimed the higher price was justified because its batteries lasted as much as five times longer than those of the competition, but apparently that wasn’t enough to spur sales. White Cloud now seems to be working hard to change its image and has reduced the price of the Cirrus 3 kit to just $129.95. This is the kit I’ll be covering in my White Cloud review.
White Cloud Review: General Impressions
The White Cloud Cirrus 3 is a KR808-threaded e-cigarette compatible with popular models such as the V2 e-cigarette and Halo G6. Opening my White Cloud review kit, I was immediately struck by the economy of the packaging; they managed to cram a lot of stuff into a very small box. In the Cirrus 3 kit, you’ll find the following items:
- Three batteries
- 15 refill cartridges
- Triple-battery USB charger
- Wall charger
As mentioned above, this kit costs $129.95. All three batteries arrived nearly fully charged and ready to use, so I was able to top them up with the charger for ten minutes or so, screw in some cartridges and start testing. At this point, my first impression of the White Cloud Cirrus 3 was quite good; the packaging was nice, the batteries were light and had a nice feel in the hand and the triple-battery charger was an accessory I’d never seen before.
Although my White Cloud review kit included batteries of three different sizes, I was able to charge them simultaneously on the Squid charger without issues. The three indicator lights on the charger clicked over from red to blue as each charge cycle completed. It’s a great charger for anyone who uses a smaller e-cigarette.

White Cloud Review: Performance
The first thing I want to know when I write any e-cigarette review is how the vapor production of the product compares to similar products I’ve tried before. Right away, the White Cloud Cirrus gave me a great impression because I was blowing vapor clouds that were more than double the volume of those produced by some other small e-cigarettes I’ve tried. I was also enjoying the flavor of the first cartridge I tried; I could tell this was going to be a pretty good product.
One of the highly unusual features of White Cloud is the fact that the company doesn’t consider the 16 mg nicotine strength its top end. Rather, it’s actually near the bottom. The nicotine strengths that you can select from when ordering White Cloud cartridges are 0, 8, 16, 24, 36 and a whopping 54 mg — a single White Cloud 54 mg cartridge contains more than 50 percent more nicotine than an entire pack of unfiltered Camel cigarettes. To my knowledge, no other company offers a pre-filled cartridge that’s even close. So, if your nicotine needs are extremely high, White Cloud is definitely an e-cigarette brand worth looking at. For most people, though, I’d strongly suggest starting with the 16 mg strength and working up if you have to. Most companies consider 16 mg their “full-flavored” strength.
Trying the cartridges included with my White Cloud review kit, I was surprised not to find a single one that I didn’t like. White Cloud’s lineup of refill flavors includes a good mix of traditional, sweet and off the wall flavors that are sure to please most customers. In particular, I found the Diablo and Bora Bora flavors quite remarkable.
The Diablo flavor uses a heavy dose of capsaicin — the compound that makes chili peppers hot — to generate some heat in the mouth, throat and lungs. I’ve heard of some companies using a little capsaicin to enhance the “throat hit” of their e-liquids, but White Cloud’s Diablo flavor is something different entirely — it’s like inhaling hot sauce. I can’t use it without coughing violently, but I’d bet that some people will love it. Diablo is particularly a flavor worth considering if you’d like to eventually eliminate your nicotine consumption.
The Bora Bora flavor is even better; it’s something I’d buy by the bottle if I could. However, I don’t find White Cloud’s description of the flavor quite accurate. White Cloud describes the Bora Bora flavor as a tropical blend of tobacco and spice, but I think it tastes more like aromatic pipe tobacco. As it enters the mouth, I taste nothing but a dry, slightly peppery heat. Exhaling it, though, my mouth explodes into a slightly sweet pipe tobacco flavor that I just can’t get enough of. It’s a really enjoyable flavor.
The vapor production of the White Cloud e-cigarette is excellent on its own, but for people who want even more, White Cloud also sells a crazy accessory called the Shotgun Tip. At $9.95, this package of three tips allows you to link up to three White Cloud e-cigarettes together and use them through a single mouthpiece. I found it extremely difficult to get all three e-cigarettes working simultaneously through the Shotgun Tip, but you can definitely expect some extreme vapor production if you’re willing to troubleshoot a bit.
The Bottom Line
Overall, I believe that cutting prices on starter kits was an excellent move on White Cloud’s part. At the original price of $350, I don’t believe that I could recommend any standard e-cigarette; after all, you could get a gold-plated e-cigarette for less. At the $129 price point, the White Cloud Cirrus becomes a compelling product with plenty to offer just about every type of smoker. Not only is the vapor production far better than average for an e-cigarette of its size, but some of the flavors are the most enjoyable you’ll find in any pre-filled cartridge. In addition, because cartridges with extremely high nicotine strengths are available, White Cloud is the obvious choice for a heavy smoker who wants a small e-cigarette but is concerned that his or her nicotine needs won’t be met.
