I have a bit of an unusual technique for writing e-liquid reviews. When I discovered a cartomizer that could produce as much vapor as I was accustomed to with an atomizer and direct dripping, I decided that all of my e-liquid reviews going forward would be conducted on new Boge 510 cartomizers. Although I always took steps to ensure that my impression of an e-liquid wouldn’t be altered because the atomizer was contaminated with the previous flavor I reviewed, this technique guarantees that flavor contamination never happens.

The downside, though, is that it can sometimes be an expensive way to write e-liquid reviews. I do get e-liquid samples sometimes from manufacturers, but it’s often necessary for me to pay for both the cartomizer and the e-liquid when I want to write a new review. When I found out about Virgin Vapor’s Boge cartomizer deal — which gives you 15 cartomizers and a sample of organic e-liquid for $21.99 — I became a customer for life.

Virgin Vapor Strawberry Lime Cooler is the organic e-liquid sample that I requested with my latest batch of cartomizers for my upcoming e-liquid reviews. I’ve been on a bit of a tropical fruit kick lately at home, and I thought that this e-liquid might be a good vaping companion.

Opening the bottle, you can clearly smell the strawberry and lime in this e-liquid. The two smells complement each other perfectly. The lime keeps the strawberry from smelling overly sweet, while the strawberry covers the “furniture polish” note that I detected when I reviewed Virgin Vapor’s Luscious Lime e-liquid. It smells just about good enough to drink.

Unfortunately, Virgin Vapor Strawberry Lime Cooler begins to fall apart a bit when you actually vape it because the amazing smell doesn’t seem to carry over to the taste. On the inhale, I actually have difficulty detecting any flavor at all. I review e-liquids on a ProVari Mini and like my vapor a bit on the warm side, so my first reaction was to lower the voltage in case the heat was destroying some delicate flavors. However, I experienced the same thing all the way down to 3.7 volts.

On the exhale, the same thing happens; the vapor tastes incredibly neutral and not much at all like the flavor I’d expect from smelling Virgin Vapor Strawberry Lime Cooler in the bottle. It’s only after I’ve exhaled the vapor that I begin to taste a bit of those strawberry and lime flavors lingering on my tongue.

With this e-liquid, I was looking for something that would fall a bit into the “sweet and fruity” category. In practice, though, Virgin Vapor Strawberry Lime Cooler was a lot more neutral than I was expecting. It reminds me quite a bit of those zero-calorie bottled water drinks with fruit flavors but no sweeteners, natural or artificial. With those, I also find that the flavor doesn’t really come through until after I’ve swallowed the water. If you’ve had one of those beverages and the idea sounds intriguing to you, pick up a bottle of Strawberry Lime Cooler. If you’re looking for something with a more pronounced flavor, this isn’t it.
