National Geographic: E-Cigarettes Could Benefit Environment
National Geographic’s Brian Clark Howard has posted an article discussing the potential positive benefit that electronic cigarettes could have on the litter problem that cigarettes frequently cause. According to Howard, cigarette butts may take as long as a decade to decompose and are often disposed of improperly. When you consider the impact that millions of smokers tossing around 20 butts into the trash or on the sides of roads each day, it’s really quite a load on the environment. E-cigarettes, on the other hand, cause significantly less impact on the environment when disposed of properly.
This brings up an interesting point: what do you do with your empty e-liquid bottles and batteries that no longer hold a charge? Many electronics stores accept dead batteries for proper disposal, and glass and plastic e-liquid bottles can be re-used or recycled. Do you take the time to recycle your electronic cigarette waste?
